Poisar River Rejuvenation: 10 Decentralised STPs

Scope

Rejuvenation and beautification of the Poisar River for the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai. Ten decentralised sewage treatment plants of varying sizes, with a combined 33.5 MLD capacity based on MBR technology, plus the supporting sewerage collection network.

Process

• 10 nos. STPs constructed in various sizes, totalling 33.5 MLD MBR-based capacity along the river course
• 8,670 m sewerage collection network with 342 manholes
• 13 nallah interceptors with integrated screening to divert wet-weather flow
• 9,210 m of road-side drains and 3,153 m of service roads (5.0 m wide)
• Sample house-to-sewer connections feeding decentralised plants situated across the river

Outcome

Significant environmental impact through reduced pollution and revitalisation of the Poisar River, with enhanced urban aesthetics and long-term socio-economic benefits along the riverside.
